I am in a bit of a dilemma. (Greek: δί-λημμα "double proposition") or a problem offering at least two possibilities, neither of which is practically acceptable. The Assessments Today Blog was my very first blog and I choose to use Typepad. That is almost 7 years ago! I still think that Typepad is a great platform but WordPress is what I use for all my other blogs and websites... it is free, flexible and has great widgets to optimize the site.
If you were me, what would you do?
Or here is a better question... How would you like to see Assessments Today look? What features or widgets or advertising do you want or not want?
Please post your comments or send me a private email.
If I do move - which I probably will do, it won't be until the summer. I just have to many other things on my plate.

Roberta, I definitely support your moving Assessments Today to a Wordpress blogsite.
Like you, I had a typepad account for my blog. And a separate website. In 2008, I integrated the blog and website to a WP blogsite and I'm so glad that I did. While I am very tech-proficient (also like you!), and could have done the conversion myself, it would not have been a good use of my time and ultimately would have been a major distraction.
Rather than use one of the free WP templates, I bought a customizable WP template. Then, I hired a web-designer who understands how to *really* customize & tweak templates. I outlined what I wanted and delegated the work to her.
Several plug-ins were also installed and they make it easier for me to manage the site.
Let me know if you'd like to connect privately for more info on the plug-ins I recommend. Or, for more info on the hosting company I use. Or, for the designer.
Here's the "old" website which I keep around so that I can show people the before & after.

And, here's the new website, with the site and my blog (called WindowSyl)combined into one.

Thanks Syl,
I couldn't agree more but of course - I want to do it myself which is why I will probably wait until the summer. I had my old "personal story of my move to Europe" on Typepad and recently moved it over. The post transferred seamlessly but I didn't have any fancy side bars.
Thanks for the advice and suggestions. I actually have over 6 wordpress "blogs" set up . I am addicted to them.
